04mar11:0011:45Lunch discussion (12-12.45): ecological forecasting

Event Details

Ecological Forecasting is a topic that increasingly many FramCentre researchers work with. We will gather to discuss the different approaches and possible common needs for workshops.

If you are all new to the topic, check out this video: https://course.naturecast.org/docs/intro-to-forecasting/material/ and maybe alsothis site: https://ecoforecast.org/.

If you are alreadyfamiliar to the topic, reflect these questions before the lunch:
– approaches you use per today?
– what you want to predict? Time horizon? What types of phenomena?
– what kinds of models? statistic? mechanistic? models that depend on othermodels (eg ecological model that depend on climate models)?
– what kind of learning needs and wishes you have?

We aim to map what sort ofecological forecasting is already going on within the FramCentre, are therecommon questions/issues/interests possibly leading to common needs forworkshops/courses.

Note that the correct time is 12.00-12.45
